Nigerian Army forces engaged in Counter Terrorism Counter Insurgency endeavors across Katsina and Zamfara States executed a series of meticulously orchestrated operations, culminating in the disruption of terrorist strongholds and the neutralization of numerous extremist elements.
In a decisive maneuver conducted on March 29, 2024, within Zamfara State, troops launched a surgical assault on the bastion of notorious terrorist kingpin, Hassan Yantagwaye, situated in Tsafe Local Government Area. Yantagwaye and his cohorts had been implicated in a litany of abductions and terrorist activities across North West Nigeria. During the meticulously orchestrated operation, our forces decisively subdued the insurgents in a fierce confrontation, resulting in the elimination of three terrorists. Furthermore, a substantial cache of weaponry and munitions was confiscated, and the terrorists’ encampments were dismantled.
On the same day, vigilant troops intercepted a shipment of 441 parcels of suspected Cannabis Sativa in Molegede village, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State. The contraband was clandestinely transported in a Mazda Saloon car, abandoned by the smugglers upon encountering our forces. Following preliminary investigations, both the vehicle and the illicit cargo will be turned over to the appropriate authorities.
In Katsina State, on March 30, 2024, our courageous troops engaged in intense combat operations across Shawu Kuka, Shinda, Tafki, Gidan Surajo, and Citakushi in Kabai I and Kabai II within Faskari Local Government Area. The troops effectively neutralized eight terrorists and seized three locally manufactured firearms, military attire, and a significant quantity of pilfered grain.
Meanwhile, during night patrols on April 31, 2024, in Ebonyi State, troops encountered armed Effium militias along Urban Effium in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Eboyin State. A fierce skirmish ensued, resulting in the capture of one militia member. Additionally, one AK-47 Rifle and 11 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition were confiscated. The captured suspect is presently undergoing preliminary interrogation.
