Nigerian Army troops thwarts gun smuggling, foils kidnapping, and eliminates terrorists in Taraba

In a sequence of effective operations, Nigerian Army troops deployed for counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency endeavors in Taraba and Benue States have achieved significant accomplishments in thwarting terrorist activities.

According to a statement issued by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, these operations resulted in the apprehension of a gun runner, the prevention of a kidnapping attempt, and the elimination of a terrorist.

Troops, in collaboration with local vigilantes, acted upon actionable intelligence to apprehend Mansir Mohammed at Jalingo Motor Park, reportedly involved in gun-running activities with terrorists. Subsequent to his arrest, other members of his syndicate were detained, leading to the recovery of significant contraband including firearms, a vehicle, mobile devices, and currency.

In a separate operation, troops conducting routine patrols in Miyande Village, Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, intercepted two terrorist suspects concealing an automatic rifle beneath the seat of a motorcycle. The vigilant troops successfully recovered the firearm and ammunition.

Furthermore, in response to a distress call, troops thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Zaki-Biam Town, Zaki-Biam Local Government Area of Benue State. During the intervention, one kidnapper was neutralized in a confrontation with the security forces, and a firearm was seized.

Major General Nwachukwu emphasized that these successful operations underscore the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Army to eradicate terrorism and insurgency, thereby ensuring national security. He urged the public to continue supporting the efforts of the troops in their operations.
