The Nigerian Navy on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, decorated seven officers with their new ranks of Lieutenant Commander at a ceremony held at the Naval Headquarters in Abuja.
In a statement the Nigerian Navy Director of Information Commodore A. Adams-Aliu said the event, referred to in naval tradition as the “Shipping of Stripes,” marked a significant milestone in the careers of the officers, recognizing their professionalism, leadership, and dedication to service.
Representing the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, was the Chief of Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Abdullahi Dewu, who congratulated the newly promoted officers and their families.
“This ceremony is a celebration of hard work, integrity, professionalism, and perseverance. Your promotion is not only a personal achievement but also a call to higher responsibility in the ongoing fight against insecurity and maritime crime,” Rear Admiral Dewu stated.
He acknowledged the vital role of the officers’ families in supporting their careers, noting that the stability they provide on the home front contributes greatly to professional excellence.
