The Nigerian Navy has disowned a recruitment notice circulating on social media announcing an alleged 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise, describing the publication as unauthorised and warning prospective applicants against relying on it.
The Navy, in a statement signed by the Director of Naval Information, Commodore Abiodun Folorunsho, said the circulating notice was not an official recruitment announcement and should be disregarded by members of the public.
The service advised prospective applicants to exercise caution and ignore recruitment information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unauthorised sources.
It said authentic information on Nigerian Navy recruitment, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and available categories, would only be released through its authorised communication channels.
The Navy directed prospective applicants to its official recruitment website, joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, and the service’s official website, navy.mil.ng, for verified information.
It also warned members of the public against making payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms claiming to facilitate recruitment into the Nigerian Navy.
According to the service, Nigerian Navy recruitment is free of charge, adding that it does not authorise third parties to recruit applicants or collect recruitment fees on its behalf.
The Navy said it remained committed to maintaining a transparent and credible recruitment process and would continue to provide timely and accurate information through its official communication channels.
It urged Nigerians to verify recruitment-related information through authorised channels before taking any action to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
