In a decisive operation under the code name “Operation DELTA SANITY,” a patrol team from Forward Operating Base FORMOSO on Sunday, September 1, 2024, discovered and seized three large wooden boats loaded with stolen crude oil at a loading point around the Botokiri Axis of Nembe Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
The loading point was reportedly operated by armed ex-militants. The operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to combat oil theft and illegal refining activities in the Niger Delta region. The amount of crude oil recovered has yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for the illegal operation.
The military has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s natural resources and maintaining security in the region.
