NIS appoints Kenneth Udo as new spokesman

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has formally endorsed the appointment of Kenneth Tyoapine Udo, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI), as the new Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO).

This decision was conveyed through an official statement signed by Assistant Comptroller of Immigration Kenneth Kure from the Public Relations Unit. DCI Udo assumes this role following the elevation of Adedotun Aridegbe to the rank of Comptroller of Immigration Service, who currently serves as the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the CGI.

Hailing from Konshisha Local Government Area in Benue State, DCI Udo holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from the University of Abuja. He has honed his professional skills through various local and international training programs, including the 30th Superintendent Basic Course at the Immigration Training School in Kano and participation in forums such as the Roundtable on Sudan Crises and regional security by the National Defence College, as well as training sessions on return counseling toolkit and migration protection organized by IOM, UN Migration, and the European Union.

With a distinguished career in Migration Management, DCI Udo has served in diverse roles within the Nigeria Immigration Service. Notably, he served as a personal aide to the Honourable Minister of Interior from 1999 to 2005 and later as personal aide to the Comptroller General of Immigration from 2007 to 2010. Additionally, he held positions as a Personal Assistant to several high-ranking officials within the NIS.

His professional engagements extend beyond national borders, including his tenure as Immigration Attaché in Washington DC, USA from 2017 to 2021, and subsequent appointment as the Dean of Discipline at the Immigration Training School in Ahoada, Rivers State from 2021 to 2022. Until his recent appointment, he held the position of 2 i/c Migration Management at the Service Headquarters in Abuja, concurrently serving as the focal officer for the National Human Rights Commission and the Return, Readmission, and Reintegration Committee.

DCI Kenneth Udo is committed to representing the Nigeria Immigration Service with utmost professionalism and dedication in his new capacity as the Public Relations Officer, a role to which he has now assumed duty at the NIS headquarters in Abuja.
