NNL24: Warri Wolves FC secures convincing victory at home, defeating Ijebu United 2-0

In a commanding display, Warri Wolves FC emerged triumphant once again on their home turf during the Nigeria National League (NNL) Match Day 4 in Group B of the Southern Conference. The Seasiders secured a vital three points at the Kwale Township Stadium, Kwale, in their third match of the season.

The victory unfolded with Forward Christian Izuchukwu making a significant contribution, netting his second goal of the season in the 8th minute with a clinical finish inside the opponent’s 18-yard box. Shortly thereafter, Okunlola Sodiq extended the lead to 2-0 in the 13th minute with a well-executed header.

Warri Wolves FC showcased a resilient defense, with goalkeeper Joke Elvis making crucial blocks and noteworthy saves to maintain a clean sheet at home, despite relentless pressure from the visiting team. The Seasiders capitalized on their early two-goal advantage, successfully thwarting any attempts by Ijebu United to alter the scoreline in the first half.

In the second half, Ijebu United launched a determined offensive, but their efforts were in vain as the tactically astute coaching team led by Jolomi Atune executed strategic substitutions, introducing Yusuf Kelvin, Wehere Buchi, Osigwe Ekene, and Ekimini Emmanuel. These changes allowed Warri Wolves FC to retain control and conclude the match with a 2-0 victory.

With this win, Warri Wolves FC now stands with 6 points from three games, securing the 3rd position in the Conference B log table. Looking ahead, the Seasiders will face Crown FC of Ogbomosho on the road in Match Day five of the NNL, scheduled for Saturday, December 16, 2023.
