The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Lieutenant-General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff. In a statement from Olufemi Soneye, NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, the Board, management, and staff extended their condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Nigerian Army, describing the loss as monumental.
NNPC Ltd. highlighted the late General Lagbaja’s invaluable support in combating pipeline vandalism and oil theft, commending his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s economic development. “He was a brilliant officer and gentleman who served with dedication and distinction,” the statement read.
The NNPC further offered condolences to General Lagbaja’s family, wishing them strength during this time of grief and praying for his peaceful rest. His absence, they noted, would be deeply felt across the nation.
