The Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) have commended the Senate for halting the confirmation of the Governing Board of the North West Development Commission (NWDC), citing a lack of Christian representation.
In a statement issued Sunday, NCYP Chairman Isaac Abrak praised Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Deputy President Barau Jibrin for their November 19 decision, which he said reflects a commitment to equity and inclusivity in the region.
“We believe this pause allows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure Christians are represented on the board, fostering broader inclusion,” Abrak said, urging the President to consult Christian leaders and stakeholders to appoint credible individuals.
He emphasized that diverse representation on the NWDC board is vital for all citizens of the region and expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership.
“We support the President’s efforts and encourage Nigerians to unite behind his administration as it works to enhance living standards across the country,” Abrak added.
