NSCDC CG commends cooperative society for enhancing personnel welfare

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Abubakar Audi, has praised the pivotal role of the NSCDC Cooperative and Investment Society Limited in advancing the welfare of the Corps’ personnel.

Dr. Audi lauded the Cooperative Society’s efforts in providing essential welfare packages, including housing, car, and farming loan schemes, aimed at improving the lives of its members. The commendation came during his keynote address at a 3-Day National Summit for Cooperative Executives, held at the NSCDC National Headquarters. The summit, themed “Recessed Economy: Options for Cooperative for Self-Reliance and Sustainability,” emphasized strategies for financial resilience and sustainability.

In his remarks, Dr. Audi highlighted the strong collaboration between his administration and the NSCDC Cooperative, which has significantly bolstered the economic conditions of Corps personnel. He encouraged all staff to join the Cooperative, noting that the large membership base of the Corps could greatly enhance the Cooperative’s impact.

Dr. Audi also took the opportunity to commend NSCDC personnel for their professionalism during the recent nationwide protests against bad governance, attributing their conduct to the positive changes within the Corps.

Earlier, the NSCDC Cooperative President, Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) Oladeji Aina, welcomed participants to the summit, emphasizing the need to address the challenges posed by inflation and economic instability.

Aina also recognized Dr. Audi’s support in advancing the Cooperative’s initiatives, including efforts to establish a Microfinance Bank.

He further advocated for a review of the IPPIS platform to prioritize Cooperative deductions, given the critical role the society plays in the welfare of Corps personnel.

Goodwill messages were delivered by Mr. Salako Olusegun, Director of Cooperatives, Federal Capital Territory Administration, and Hon. Victor Oyodeke, Special Assistant on Cooperatives and Farmers’ Welfare to the Minister of State for Agriculture, who also served as guest speakers at the summit’s technical session.

The NSCDC Cooperative Society, with a membership of approximately 35,000, drew participants from executive members of the 36 state commands and the FCT.
