NSCDC chief commends FCT command, unveils obstacle training facility

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Audi, has praised the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command for its rapid infrastructural development and operational innovations, describing the command as a model of excellence within the Corps.

Prof. Audi made the commendation during an inspection visit to the FCT Command as part of his 2026 operational tour aimed at evaluating operational readiness, training capacity and infrastructure development across NSCDC formations nationwide.

A major highlight of the visit was the inspection of the newly initiated Obstacle Course Training Facility, which the NSCDC boss described as a strategic investment in personnel capacity building and enhanced operational effectiveness.

He noted that the transformation recorded at the FCT Command since the assumption of office of the Commandant, Mr Olusola Odumosu, reflects purposeful leadership, discipline and a strong commitment to service.

According to Prof. Audi, the FCT Command occupies a strategic position as the operational nerve centre of the NSCDC National Headquarters, adding that the pace of development achieved within a short period underscores the command’s dedication to innovation and professionalism.

The Commandant General described officers of the FCT Command as among the most dedicated in the Corps, noting that their efforts are deliberately geared towards repositioning the NSCDC to meet contemporary security challenges. He said the progress recorded is indicative of the broader institutional transformation underway within the service.

Addressing personnel during the visit, Prof. Audi urged officers to uphold the core values and principles of the Corps, warning against indiscipline, complacency and misconduct. He stressed that national service must take precedence over personal interests and encouraged the initiation of programmes that can serve as templates for other commands.

He also acknowledged the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of NSCDC personnel, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for resolving long-standing promotion challenges within the service. According to him, the recent promotions have boosted morale and aligned with the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.

Looking ahead, Prof. Audi disclosed that the National Headquarters is developing a College of Arms Squad Service in Nasarawa State, noting that the FCT Command’s obstacle course design would serve as a reference model for advanced training across the country. He assured the command of continued institutional support to ensure the timely completion of the project.

The visit concluded with a tactical demonstration by trained personnel at the obstacle course, highlighting the physical fitness, coordination and operational preparedness of the FCT Command.
