NSCDC clinches most improved paramilitary agency of 2023

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has emerged as the “Most Improved Paramilitary Agency of the Year 2023,” receiving acclaim from stakeholders within the security sector.

According to the Corps’ National PRO NSCDC Abuja CSC Afolabi Babawale, this prestigious award was bestowed upon the Corps during a ceremony titled “Celebrating Icons of National Security,” organized by the Security Watch Magazine. The event took place at the Merit House in Maitama, Abuja.

Under the visionary leadership of the Commandant General, Abubakar Ahmed Audi, the NSCDC embarked on a mission to enhance national security and combat various forms of criminal activities. Collaborating with sister agencies, the Corps established two critical initiatives: the Special Female Squad and the Safe School Initiative.

These innovative programs were specifically designed to secure students and educational environments across the nation. Their immediate success led to a significant reduction in crime and criminality in and around school premises.

Mr. Tony Okpe, Publisher, and Editor-in-Chief of Crime Watch Magazine, emphasized that the selection of the NSCDC for this prestigious award was a testament to the visionary and exemplary leadership qualities of Commandant General Abubakar Ahmed Audi, P.hD, mni, OFR. He praised the Commandant General for his role in conceptualizing the Special Female Squad and the Safe School Initiative, both aimed at safeguarding students, school environments, and administrators from external threats.

Mr. Okpe urged other heads of security agencies to think creatively in fulfilling their statutory responsibilities, advocating for a holistic approach to national security. He encouraged them to emulate the NSCDC and its distinguished Commandant General.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to national security, Commandant General Abubakar Ahmed Audi was awarded a “Lifetime Achievement Award” as the “Best Performing Icon of National Security.”

The NSCDC was honored with additional awards, including “Best Performing Operational Female Squad of the Year 2023” and “The Best Performing Operational Female Officer of the Year 2023.”

The NSCDC’s commitment to securing the nation and its proactive approach to tackling security challenges has earned them this well-deserved recognition, further solidifying their position as a pivotal player in Nigeria’s security landscape.
