The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has announced the deployment of over 47,000 personnel across the country to ensure a secure and peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In a meeting with the NSCDC’s top management team at the National Headquarters in Abuja, Audi emphasized the necessity of this large-scale deployment to uphold public confidence in the Corps and to guarantee the safety of all regions during the festivities.
Audi instructed all Zonal Commanders and State Commandants to strictly follow operational orders, standard operating procedures, and the Corps’ code of conduct. He emphasized the importance of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, and directed that significant efforts be made to apprehend vandals and economic saboteurs.
The deployment includes a diverse array of specialized units: Special Forces, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, Agro Rangers, Mining Marshals, the Special Female Squad, SWAT, and other specialized teams. These units will provide continuous surveillance and ensure free movement without fear or intimidation.
Audi highlighted the importance of collaboration with other security agencies to address emerging threats effectively. “Since no agency has a monopoly on strategies for tackling security challenges, the NSCDC will continue to collaborate with sister security agencies to enhance the nation’s security architecture,” he stated.
He called for all formations to remain vigilant, intensify patrols, surveillance, and intelligence gathering both on land and in coastal areas, and mark high-risk areas as red zones.
Extending his best wishes to the Muslim faithful for Eid-el-Kabir, Audi urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency for prompt action.
