NSCDC sanctions 66 officers, confirms promotion of 17,000

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 66 personnel for various disciplinary offences while confirming the approval of promotions for approximately 17,000 senior officers.

The Commandant-General of the Corps, Prof. Abubakar Audi, disclosed this on Friday during a press conference at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja.

Audi said the disciplinary actions included dismissal, reduction in rank, suspension and warning, following official communication from the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) after its meeting.

He explained that the affected personnel were subjected to established disciplinary procedures, including proceedings before the Orderly Room and the Senior and Junior Officers’ Disciplinary Committees.

According to him, the committees carefully examined the nature and gravity of the offences committed before recommending appropriate sanctions.

He said the recommendations were subsequently ratified by the board, reaffirming the corps’ commitment to discipline, professionalism and accountability.

In a related development, the commandant-general confirmed that the corps had received the list of approximately 17,000 senior officers approved for promotion, as earlier announced by the Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB.

He assured eligible personnel that the promotion list would be made public and communicated to the benefiting officers in due course.

Audi reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to strengthening institutional discipline, promoting professional excellence and improving service delivery.

He added that the corps would continue to discharge its statutory responsibilities of safeguarding lives, property and critical national assets.
