The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, has assured Corps Members that they will receive the new monthly allowance of Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira (₦77,000) starting from March 2025.
General Nafiu made this announcement while addressing Corps Members at the Wuse and Garki NYSC Zonal Offices in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. He reaffirmed the commitment of both the Scheme and the Federal Government to ensuring the welfare and well-being of Corps Members, emphasizing that their needs remain a top priority.
“With effect from March, you will receive the sum of Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira as your monthly allowance. NYSC is known for its efficiency in record-keeping, and I can assure you that your payment will be made on time. The nation and the Scheme appreciate your dedication and service,” he stated.
The Director General commended the Corps Members for their selfless service to the nation and urged them to remain calm, focused, and disciplined. He also praised the founding fathers of the NYSC for their foresight in establishing the Scheme, which has helped to foster national unity and cultural exchange among Nigerian youths.
“NYSC is a unique Scheme that continues to build bridges among Nigerians and expose young graduates to the cultural values of regions outside their birthplaces,” he said.
General Nafiu assured that the NYSC Management would continue to promote patriotism, discipline, leadership, teamwork, and moral values among Corps Members to prepare them for future leadership roles.
Speaking on behalf of Corps Members at the Garki Zonal Office, Zaka Deborah Alheri (FC/24A/5831) expressed gratitude to the Director General for his commitment to improving their welfare and ensuring the timely payment of the increased allowance.
