Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to former Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu for the return of 22 government vehicles allocated to the Office of the Deputy Governor. Despite the conclusion of Shaibu’s term in office, the vehicles remain in his possession, prompting the directive aimed at their retrieval.
The directive was formally communicated through a public notice signed by Chris Osa Nehikhare, the State Commissioner of Communication and Orientation.
In the notice, Nehikhare stated, “The Edo State Government hereby issues this notice directing the retrieval of official government vehicles allocated to the Office of the Deputy Governor, Edo State, which are currently in the custody of the former Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu.”
Highlighting the importance of reclaiming these assets, Nehikhare emphasized their necessity for the operational efficiency of the Deputy Governor’s office under the current administration. He underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring all state property is accounted for and utilized appropriately.
To enforce compliance, relevant security agencies have been alerted and are prepared to assist in the retrieval process if Shaibu fails to return the vehicles within the stipulated timeframe.
The ultimatum sets the stage for a critical deadline, with observers keenly monitoring whether Shaibu will comply or prompt further actions from the state government to reclaim the vehicles.
