Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has approved the appointment of Mrs. Mercy Johnson-Okojie as Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy. Umar Musa Ilori, Esq., Secretary to the State Government, confirmed the appointment in an official statement.
Mrs. Johnson-Okojie is a celebrated Nigerian actress, producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, with a career in Nollywood spanning nearly two decades and more than 200 film credits. Her contributions to the entertainment industry have earned her multiple awards and nominations, including recognition at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Beyond her accomplishments in film, Mrs. Johnson-Okojie is recognized for her humanitarian and advocacy work. Through the Mercy Johnson-Okojie Foundation, she has championed initiatives in women empowerment, child welfare, education, and healthcare outreach. Her efforts have consistently promoted social responsibility, civic awareness, and community development.
In her new role, Mrs. Johnson-Okojie is expected to leverage her public influence, communication expertise, and grassroots reach to enhance citizen engagement with government policies and programs.
