Okpebholo assures completion of Benin-Ekpoma road repairs before Christmas

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has assured residents that the ongoing repairs on the failed portion of the Benin-Ekpoma expressway at Obadan Junction will be completed before Christmas.

According to a press statement by Chief Press Secretary to Edo State Governor Fred Itua, the Governor stated this during his third inspection of the project since his inauguration on November 12, 2024, Governor Okpebholo commended the contractors for working tirelessly to meet the deadline. He emphasized that completing the road would ease travel during the festive season.

“This road is critical as it connects the South East to the North. We are committed to ensuring its completion before Christmas to allow seamless travel for our people,” Okpebholo said.

The governor highlighted his administration’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to enhance infrastructure development across the state. He also expressed confidence in securing a federal refund for the project, noting the importance of collaboration between state and federal governments to improve national infrastructure.

“Our priority is to make this road motorable, regardless of its federal status. Once completed, we will appeal to Mr. President for a refund. Ultimately, ensuring smooth travel benefits everyone,” Okpebholo added.

The governor reaffirmed the commitment of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to delivering the dividends of democracy, stating that infrastructure development is key to maintaining public trust in the government.
