Forward Operating Base FORMOSO, operating under Operation DELTA SANITY, made significant strides on Thursday, March 29, 2024, with the discovery and deactivation of multiple illegal refining sites in Bayelsa State.
The operation unveiled an illegal refining site at an undisclosed location, revealing a disturbing stockpile of 15,000 liters of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) along with 20,000 liters of stolen crude oil. The find underscores the pervasive nature of illicit activities in the region, with perpetrators engaging in the unlawful extraction and processing of crude oil.
Furthermore, the vigilant efforts of the team led to the detection and subsequent deactivation of another illegal refining site situated in the Nembe and Brass general area of Bayelsa State. This site, too, was found to be harboring approximately 10,000 liters of stolen crude oil.

The discoveries highlight the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in curbing illegal refining activities and the theft of crude oil, which not only pose significant environmental risks but also deprive the nation of vital resources.
Operation DELTA SANITY continues to be a crucial initiative in the fight against illicit oil-related activities in the Niger Delta region, with efforts aimed at safeguarding national resources and promoting sustainable development.
