Operation DELTA SANITY: Nigerian Navy Ship FORMOSO discovers illegal refining site, intercepts stolen crude oil

In a significant development on Monday, 25th March 2024, Nigerian Navy Ship FORMOSO successfully uncovered and neutralized an illicit refining site in the Akassa General Area. This operation, conducted as part of Operation DELTA SANITY, aimed to combat illegal activities within the region.

During the patrol, the team, led by the Nigerian Navy, uncovered an illegal refining site concealed within the Akassa General Area. The site was found to be laden with approximately 8,000 litres of stolen crude oil, indicative of extensive illegal activities aimed at exploiting Nigeria’s natural resources.

Furthermore, the vigilance of the patrol team led to the interception of a wooden boat carrying approximately 2,000 litres of stolen crude oil near Elepa, Brass LGA, Bayelsa State. This interception underscores the pervasive nature of illicit activities within the maritime domain and the relentless efforts by law enforcement to combat such criminal enterprises.
