OPHK troops kill Boko Haram commanders, recover weapons in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have killed nine Boko Haram terrorists, including two top commanders, during counter-insurgency operations in Borno State.

The operations, which took place between 21 and 22 August 2025, were carried out by ground troops supported by the air component in Bita and Wulgo.

Military sources confirmed that the slain commanders were identified as Abu Nazir, known as Munzir of Juye, and Abu Fatima, Munzir of Koloram. They were eliminated during a fierce gun battle at Wulgo.

During the operations, troops recovered AK-47 rifles, a cache of ammunition, and six motorcycles belonging to the insurgents.

The Defence Headquarters commended the troops for their bravery and urged them to sustain the momentum of offensive operations despite prevailing security challenges.
