The Special Task Force, Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), has handed over recovered arms and ammunition seized from criminals during its operations to the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW).
The handover ceremony, held on Sunday, 17 August 2025, was presided over by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander OPSH, Major General Folusho Oyinlola. He stated that the exercise was in line with the Federal Government’s commitment to curbing insecurity caused by the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in communities.

General Oyinlola noted that OPSH had achieved significant successes in tackling criminal attacks using both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches. He urged citizens to support ongoing efforts to rid the society of illicit weapons.
From 2024 to date, OPSH recovered 220 small arms and light weapons, 1,874 rounds of ammunition, and 83 cartridges from criminal elements.
Representing the Director-General of NCCSALW, Deputy Director-General Abdul Adamu commended OPSH for its efforts in addressing the menace of illegal arms. He also appealed to Nigerians to support the government’s initiatives aimed at achieving a society free of illicit weapons.
