In a significant ceremony at the Governor’s office on Monday, Governor Bassey Otu administered the oath of office to three newly appointed High Court Judges: Hon. Justice Ama Edet Ekpo, Hon. Justice Theresa Ansa Agom, and Hon. Justice Jarlath Ogar Agim. The event underscored Governor Otu’s call for the judiciary to reclaim public confidence amid widespread criticism.

“At a time when the judiciary is facing unbridled public criticism nationwide, the three judges sworn in today must demonstrate a high level of judicial expertise. Regardless of ongoing debates on the veracity of public claims, it is indisputable that the judiciary needs a rejuvenation through self-cleansing procedures,” Governor Otu remarked.

He urged the National Judicial Council of Nigeria (NJCN) to remain vigilant in holding accountable any erring judicial officers and emphasized the pivotal role of the newly sworn-in judges in restoring faith in the judiciary.
