Over 100 firms set for Abuja China-Africa trade expo

The China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo is set to host over 100 companies at its upcoming event in Abuja, scheduled for November 28–30, 2024.

The expo, the second of its kind in Africa, follows a successful debut in Nairobi earlier this year and will showcase a diverse range of products with a strong focus on Chinese engineering technology.

Organized by a collaboration of over eight agencies from Hunan Province in China and Nigeria’s Federal Trade Agency, the event will take place at the Abuja Trade & Convention Centre under the theme, “China and Africa Joining Hands for a Better Future.”

The Opening Ceremony will feature the China-Africa Infrastructure Cooperation Forum (Nigeria), which begins at 10 a.m. on the first day. The forum will explore key opportunities and challenges in China-Africa infrastructure collaboration, emphasizing green development, innovative financing, and connectivity. This will be followed by a China-Africa Business & Healthcare Matchmaking Conference in the afternoon, offering opportunities for targeted business discussions between Hunan enterprises and African stakeholders across sectors such as healthcare, new energy, textiles, fisheries, and manufacturing.

A highlight of the event is an extensive exhibition showcasing engineering technology from both Nigeria and China. Running throughout the expo, it will span nine thematic areas, including new energy, construction machinery, power transformation, home appliances, and sustainable infrastructure.

The China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo has grown significantly since its inception, fostering economic partnerships across multiple sectors. The third session, held in Changsha, China, in June 2023, facilitated deals worth $10.3 billion. Similarly, the inaugural African edition in Nairobi this May resulted in 43 projects valued at $1.4 billion.

With robust participation and strong partnerships, the Abuja edition aims to solidify its role as a premier platform for advancing China-Africa economic collaboration.
