- Says APC’s crisis instigation plots have failed
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned recent statements by Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State. Okocha claimed the APC could overturn the gubernatorial election results that saw Governor Siminalayi Fubara elected. The PDP described Okocha’s remarks as delusional and an attempt to incite crisis and overthrow the democratic order, violating the Nigerian Constitution.
In a statement National Publicity Secretary signed Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP criticized Okocha’s use of the term “war,” interpreting it as evidence of malicious intent. They asserted that Rivers State remains a PDP stronghold with robust support for its government.
The PDP urged the Federal Government and the national APC leadership to restrain Okocha from destabilizing actions and statements. They also called on the Inspector General of Police to hold Okocha accountable for his inflammatory rhetoric, which they believe threatens democracy and peace in Rivers State.
The PDP reaffirmed its position that any attempts by the APC to forcibly take control of Rivers State would fail. They encouraged residents to remain calm and continue supporting the PDP administration.
