In a significant development, officers from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) conducted a successful operation on the Gbagada – Oshodi Expressway, culminating in the apprehension of a suspected hard drug vendor, Victor Aghalise (27), who was in the act of peddling a substance believed to be ‘Arizona’ to motorists.
A thorough search of Aghalise’s belongings revealed a staggering 93 wraps of the illicit substance ‘Arizona,’ raising serious concerns about the proliferation of such harmful narcotics. Subsequent investigations conducted by law enforcement led to the arrest of another individual, identified as Ifeanyi Erem (60). Erem has reportedly confessed to his involvement in the supply chain, providing Aghalise with ‘Arizona’ for distribution in the vicinity of the Ilupeju area along the Gbagada – Oshodi Expressway.
Further scrutiny of Erem’s possessions uncovered an additional seven wraps of ‘Arizona,’ underscoring the scope and reach of this illicit drug trade.
Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, has directed that both suspects, Victor Aghalise and Ifeanyi Erem, be promptly charged and brought before the court of law. CSP Egbeyemi emphasized the gravity of the situation by issuing a stern warning to hard drug peddlers and the motorists who engage in their illegal trade. He asserted that the full force of the law would be brought to bear on individuals involved in drug peddling and anyone found patronizing them would also face prosecution, regardless of their location within the state.
This significant arrest demonstrates the commitment of the police to curb the distribution and use of illegal substances in the region and serves as a stark reminder of the legal consequences awaiting those who perpetuate the illicit drug trade.
