In a swift response to a distress call, the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) sprang into action during their night patrol on February 20, 2024. The call reported an incident where individuals had forcibly taken a lady’s phone and handbag.

In a statement Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed these developments. He said the RRS operatives, acting promptly, apprehended the suspects identified as Praise Ebube, a 25-year-old phone accessories seller from Obalende, Lagos, and Ogbonna Michael, a 21-year-old factory worker from Billings Way, Oregun, Lagos. The arrest occurred around 8:30 p.m. as the suspects were attempting to flee the scene, and the victim’s belongings were successfully recovered from them.

Hundeyin said further investigations revealed another victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, who positively identified one of the suspects, Praise Ebube, as the perpetrator of a previous robbery. Ebube allegedly robbed this victim at knifepoint, snatching a Vivo mobile phone valued at N105,000.00 on January 24, 2024, in the same area.

Both suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crimes. Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni, has instructed the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, to ensure the suspects are arraigned once investigations are concluded.
