Police arrest eight suspected kidnappers, recover arms in Nasarawa

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on kidnapping and violent crimes with the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers during a coordinated security operation in Rukubi Community, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Confirming the report, Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters Abuja, DCP Anthony Okon Placid said the operation followed a distress report received in the early hours of May 7, 2026, concerning an armed attack carried out by suspected criminals who invaded the community on the night of May 6.

The attackers were said to have fired sporadically, creating panic among residents before storming the homes of two individuals and abducting them to an unknown destination.

Following the report, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, working in collaboration with other security agencies and local community youths, swiftly mobilised to the area and launched coordinated operations that led to the arrest of eight suspects allegedly linked to the incident.

The suspects were identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, another Adamu Alfa, and Ja’afaru Alfa, all reportedly from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village.

Security operatives also recovered two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles, and two expended 7.62mm ammunition shells believed to have been used during the attack.

Police authorities further disclosed that one of the suspects sustained fatal injuries during the operation and was later confirmed dead while receiving medical treatment.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the gallantry and professionalism of the operatives involved in the operation.

He described the success as a strong demonstration of the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency collaboration in tackling violent crimes across the country.

The police chief also appreciated the support provided by sister security agencies, local vigilante groups, community youths, and residents, noting that their cooperation contributed significantly to the successful outcome of the operation.
