The Nigeria Police Force has achieved notable successes in recent operations, targeting arms smuggling, drug trafficking, and counterfeit currency networks. These breakthroughs were led by the Force Intelligence Department-Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS).
In a statement Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said on December 23, 2024, at approximately 5:50 PM, FID-STS operatives intercepted Hauwa Sani, a 30-year-old resident of Doro village, along the Keffi/Abuja Expressway.
She was found with 124 rounds of live ammunition of various calibres concealed inside a 5-litre container of palm oil. Sani confessed that one Nasiru from Daura instructed her to deliver the ammunition to Katsina State. Further investigations have resulted in additional arrests and recoveries, which are currently under profiling.
In a separate operation on February 1, 2025, FID-STS operatives acted on credible intelligence to apprehend Alhaji Usman Yahaya (50), Joseph Matthew (27), and Solomon Bala (25), all from Postiskum, Yobe State. They were caught transporting 30 cartons of codeine syrup and other hard drugs intended for supply to bandits, Boko Haram insurgents, and kidnappers in Yobe State and neighbouring countries.
Additionally, on February 3, 2025, FID-STS operatives arrested Yusuf Dantani (24), Usman Labaran (32), and Musa Mohammed (23) with 10 AK-47 rifles. The suspects admitted to involvement in multiple arms deals, revealing they had received ₦3,980,000 for their latest batch of arms.
These operations reflect the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring public safety. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities to aid in crime prevention.
