Police arrest three suspects, rescue abducted students, FUG staff in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command has successfully rescued two students and a staff member from the Federal University, Gusau, who were abducted by suspected bandits in a recent incident. This remarkable accomplishment follows the unwavering commitment and diligent efforts of the Command.

In an official statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, it was disclosed that three of the abductors have been apprehended. Ongoing operations are currently underway to identify and capture any remaining perpetrators who may have eluded capture.

The incident transpired on the evening of October 14, 2023, at approximately 8:00 PM when a group of armed individuals, believed to be affiliated with criminal elements commonly referred to as bandits, forcibly entered a rented student residence situated on the outskirts of Sabon Garin Damba. Under the threat of firearms, they abducted two students and a staff member from the Federal University, Gusau.
