In its unwavering commitment to ensuring justice and curbing criminal activities, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has achieved notable successes in recent weeks, marking significant progress in its ongoing efforts to uphold law and order nationwide.
According to Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, during the past fortnight, the NPF’s concerted endeavors have resulted in the arrest of 254 suspects, comprising 92 individuals involved in armed robbery, 153 kidnappers, and 9 suspected cultists. Additionally, 35 individuals who had been abducted were successfully rescued unharmed, and 7 stolen vehicles were recovered. Moreover, law enforcement operations yielded the confiscation of 44 firearms and 477 rounds of assorted ammunition.

He said one particularly prominent case involved the apprehension of ten suspects, including a transborder arms and ammunition supplier operating from Obudu LGA of Cross River State. This syndicate was implicated in supplying AK47 rifles, ammunition, and rocket launchers to criminal elements operating beyond Nigeria’s borders. The operation also led to the discovery of a firearms fabrication factory in Kuru, Jos, Plateau state, resulting in the recovery of 2 AK-47 rifles, 9 automatic pistols, and 1,800 rounds of live ammunition.

In another significant operation, operatives in Taraba State arrested two suspects suspected of involvement in arms trafficking and kidnapping in Sutai, Bali LGA. Interrogations and subsequent investigations uncovered the possession of firearms by the suspects, shedding light on their involvement in illicit activities.
Furthermore, the FCT Special Intervention Squad apprehended a suspect from Audi village linked to a gang of over 20 kidnappers. The individual confessed to his involvement in multiple kidnapping incidents, as well as the possession of an AK-47 rifle.
These instances underscore the dedication and effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force in addressing criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun reiterated the NPF’s steadfast commitment to fulfilling its mandate and implementing strategic measures to foster a safer environment for all residents of Nigeria.
