Police ban Durbar activities during Eid-El-Fitr in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has imposed a ban on all Durbar activities during the 2025 Eid-El-Fitr Sallah celebrations to safeguard public peace and security.

Announcing the decision at a press briefing on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the Bompai Police Headquarters, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, stated that the ban followed comprehensive consultations with the Kano State Government, security agencies, and key stakeholders. He explained that credible intelligence had uncovered a plot by certain miscreants and their sponsors to exploit the Durbar festivities as a platform to incite unrest and disrupt public order.

CP Bakori extended his congratulations to Muslim faithful and the residents of Kano ahead of the Sallah celebrations, assuring them that the Command has implemented robust security measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly celebration. He urged worshippers to conduct their Eid prayers at designated prayer grounds, where adequate security personnel have been deployed.

The Commissioner outlined key security guidelines for the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, including:

  • Prohibition of suspicious objects at prayer grounds.

  • Ban on horse riding (Kilisa), car racing, and reckless driving.

  • Parents and guardians must caution their children against being influenced by disruptive elements.

  • Residents should refrain from any conduct that could threaten peace and order.

Emphasizing the importance of unity and harmony, CP Bakori stated, “Peace is paramount. Let us put aside our differences and unite as law-abiding citizens for the progress of the state and the nation.”

He encouraged residents to collaborate with security agencies and promptly report any suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency hotlines at 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926. Alternatively, residents can use the NPF Rescue Me app, available on the Play Store, or reach the Command through its social media platforms on Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok.

The Kano State Police Command reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to upholding peace and order throughout the Sallah festivities and beyond.
