The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has launched the NPF Vigilant App and a dedicated NPF–MTN Closed User Group (CUG) Network as part of efforts to strengthen financial-fraud reporting, internal communication, public engagement and operational response nationwide.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, formally unveiled the two initiatives on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the NPF Conference Centre, Jabi, Abuja.
The launch brought together representatives of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion, Police Service Commission, Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), financial institutions, fintech companies, MTN Nigeria, Vigilant Technology Limited, TIMPH International Limited and other strategic partners.
The NPF Vigilant App, developed by the Force ICT Department in collaboration with stakeholders in the financial-services sector, is designed to provide members of the public with a convenient platform for reporting suspected financial fraud.

Through the application, users can submit complaints, upload supporting evidence, track the progress of reported cases and receive feedback, while facilitating coordination with relevant institutions in accordance with existing laws and procedures.
The NPF–MTN CUG Network, meanwhile, is a dedicated communication platform designed to provide police personnel across the country with secure and affordable on-network communication.
The initiative is expected to strengthen communication among commands and units, improve emergency coordination and enhance the Force’s ability to respond swiftly to operational situations.
Speaking at the event, IGP Disu described the initiatives as practical milestones in the Nigeria Police Force’s digital transformation agenda.
He said the Vigilant App would strengthen engagement between the police and members of the public, while the CUG Network would enhance communication and coordination within the Force.
According to him, both platforms are intended to make the police more connected, responsive and effective in delivering policing services.
The IGP stressed that technology must serve as an enabler of professional policing and be deployed lawfully, ethically and responsibly, with full regard for citizens’ rights, privacy, data protection and institutional accountability.
He also reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to sustained collaboration with government institutions, the financial sector, technology companies and other private-sector partners to strengthen public safety and national security.

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Information and Communication Technology, DIG Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, said the initiatives demonstrated the Force’s determination to deploy practical technology-driven solutions to improve service delivery, support police personnel and deepen public engagement.
He urged Nigerians to download the NPF Vigilant App from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and use the platform responsibly to report suspected cases of financial fraud.
The Nigeria Police Force expressed appreciation to the CBN, Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion, NIBSS, financial institutions, fintech companies, MTN Nigeria, Vigilant Technology Limited, TIMPH International Limited and other partners whose contributions supported the development and launch of the initiatives.
The Force said it would continue to leverage innovation, digital technology and strategic partnerships to provide more accessible, responsive, people-centred and effective policing services across Nigeria.
