The Nigeria Police Force has rescued 31 kidnapped victims in two separate operations conducted in Edo and Taraba States.
According to Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in Edo State, 14 victims were rescued on July 11 along the Fugar-Agenebode Road in Etsako East Local Government Area. The rescue followed a gun battle between police operatives and the abductors near Obe Hill.
On July 12, 17 victims were freed in Taraba State after police responded to a distress call along the Wukari highway. The victims, who were travelling from Enugu to Yola, were abandoned by their captors who fled upon sighting the security forces.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the courage of the officers involved and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to sustained operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks nationwide.
