- Arase foundation set for launch on Tuesday, march 5
The Police Veterans Foundation, dedicated to providing comprehensive support to retired police officers transitioning out of active duty, is scheduled to be inaugurated on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, in Abuja. The launch ceremony will take place at the Auditorium of the Police Service Commission Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
In a statement PSC Head, Press and Public Relations Ikechukwu Ani said established as a collaborative effort among retired police officers, the Foundation aims to address the increasing concerns and pressures faced by retired law enforcement personnel.
Pastor Umo Eno, son of a former Police Officer and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, will preside as the Chairman of the launch event. Distinguished guests, including governors, ministers, members of the National Assembly, and captains of industries, are expected to attend.
Dr. Solomon Arase, CFR, retired Inspector General of Police and Chairman of the Police Service Commission, emphasized that the Foundation seeks to create a supportive environment offering guidance, resources, and opportunities for police veterans to successfully navigate challenges post-service.
Dr. Arase highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to providing holistic assistance and support during the transition to civilian life, ensuring the well-being, dignity, and seamless integration of police veterans into society. One of its key objectives is to advocate for resources and provide assistance to the children of police officers, including employment opportunities and skill acquisition programs.
Additionally, the Foundation aims to leverage the expertise of capable retired officers by engaging them in training and retraining programs for both the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission.
Dr. Arase pledged that the Police Veterans Foundation would endeavor to make a meaningful and positive impact on the lives of police veterans and their communities.
Alhaji Aliyu Attah, GCON, Chairman of the Body of Retired Inspectors General of Police, will lead a delegation of retired senior police officers to the launch event.
