Confirming the report, Director, Media and Advocacy NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja Femi Babafemi said the attack occurred as the NDLEA team concluded a raid on an uncompleted building in the NNPC area of Jahi, where they recovered 74 bottles of codeine, 10 litres of codeine syrup, 48 grams of tramadol (225mg), 4.9 kilograms of skunk (a strain of cannabis), and five Android phones.

According to the agency, the officers came under heavy gunfire while exiting the scene. One officer was shot in the rib, while the others sustained injuries to the back and leg. They were initially treated at the Police Clinic in Garki Area 1 before being transferred for specialized care.

While on official duties in Kano, he also spoke directly with the injured officers, commending their bravery and wishing them a speedy recovery.
