President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, late Sunday night ahead of his participation in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), which opens on Monday.

The President’s aircraft touched down at the Presidential Wing of Zayed International Airport at about 11:30 p.m. local time. He was received by the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan; the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi; Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; and members of the Nigerian diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi.

At his hotel, President Tinubu was further welcomed by senior Nigerian officials, including the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Muhammed Muhammed.

The President arrived in Abu Dhabi from Europe, where he spent part of his end-of-year break and held engagements with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, themed “The Nexus of Next, All Systems Go,” serves as a global platform for world leaders, policymakers, investors and experts to advance dialogue and action on sustainable development, climate change, energy transition and inclusive economic growth.

President Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to global sustainability efforts and further strengthens the country’s diplomatic and economic relations with the United Arab Emirates.
