President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a two-year extension of the tenure of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Mr. Abuduganiyu Adebomehin.
According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the extension takes effect from January 5, 2026.
The decision follows the recent transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the Presidency and aims to ensure continuity in the ongoing reforms initiated by Adebomehin in geospatial data systems and related sectors.
President Tinubu urged the Surveyor-General to consolidate ongoing reforms within the next two years, with particular focus on national land management and administration, coordination of highways and abutting land infrastructure, reclamation and erosion control programmes, and other matters of strategic national importance.
Mr. Adebomehin was first appointed as Surveyor-General of the Federation by former President Muhammadu Buhari, effective January 5, 2022.
