President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Super Eagles on their commanding 4–1 victory over Gabon in Wednesday’s FIFA World Cup Africa Playoff match, describing the performance as a true reflection of the resilient Nigerian spirit.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the team’s courage, balance, and precision, noting that football remains one of Nigeria’s strongest symbols of national unity and pride.
President Tinubu said the victory injects renewed momentum into the country’s drive to secure qualification for the World Cup. He commended the players, coaching crew, and the entire technical and administrative team for their dedication to the national cause, which he said was evident in the emphatic win.
He added that the result highlights Nigeria’s deep reservoir of football talent and the Super Eagles’ determination to regain their place among Africa’s elite teams.
