President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Nasir Naeem Abdulsalam as the new Managing Director of Ajaokuta Steel Company, effective April 3, 2025. The appointment aligns with the provisions of the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc) Act of 2008 (as amended).
Before this appointment, Abdulsalam served as Technical Adviser to the Minister of Steel Development and also held the position of Special Assistant (Academics) to the Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS).
His background suggests a strategic blend of technical expertise and policy advisory experience within the steel and legislative sectors.
In a statement released by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, President Tinubu charged Abdulsalam to utilize his industry knowledge to reposition Ajaokuta Steel as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s industrial revival.
The president emphasized the company’s role in stimulating upstream and downstream economic activities and advancing Nigeria’s industrialization agenda under the Renewed Hope initiative.
This appointment comes amid renewed efforts by the Tinubu administration to diversify the economy and reawaken dormant industrial assets crucial to national development.
