Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to steering Nigeria towards efficiency, fairness, and inclusivity

President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to steering Nigeria towards efficiency, fairness, and inclusivity during an address to Afenifere leaders at the residence of Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, Ondo State, on Wednesday.

In a statement Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale said President Tinubu acknowledged the economic challenges facing the nation but expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future. “Nigeria will survive the current economic challenges,” he stated, underscoring his determination to lead the nation towards economic and social prosperity. “I requested the job, and I am not complaining about it. I take full responsibility.”

Highlighting his administration’s efforts to meet international obligations and navigate economic hurdles, the President assured Nigerians of his unwavering commitment to their welfare. “We are meeting our obligations to the international community. To lenders, we have not defaulted, and we are not going to default. We are navigating the twists and bends on the road to Nigeria’s prosperity,” he affirmed.

President Tinubu outlined key reform agendas, including fiscal and true federalism, aimed at fostering equity and fairness across the nation. He emphasized the need for responsible economic management, drawing from his experience as former Governor of Lagos State. “We must manage this moment with wisdom and grow Nigeria responsibly,” he asserted.

In response to concerns over the exploitation of Nigeria’s economy, the President vowed to re-engineer financial systems and combat selfish interests. “We cannot allow Nigeria’s economy to be exploited. We cannot abandon our economy to marauders. I am determined to re-engineer our finances and curb selfish interests permanently,” he declared.

Pa Olu Falae, speaking on behalf of Afenifere, commended President Tinubu’s dedication to Nigeria’s progress and expressed support for his administration’s initiatives. “You have kept your word to return to this place where we all prayed for you, and this shows that you are a man of your word,” he stated.

Echoing Falae’s sentiments, Pa Fasoranti urged President Tinubu to uphold fairness and courage, emphasizing the values of integrity and competence upheld by the Afenifere family. “Your performance so far has shown that you understand the full gravity of your mandate, which is to show the Nigerian people that a good government is possible,” he affirmed.
