Tinubu’s special envoy delivers WAES invitation to Guinea-Bissau President

The Special Envoy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the upcoming West Africa Economic Summit (WAES), Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, was received by President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

In a statement Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa said Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who also serves as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, delivered a formal invitation from President Tinubu to President Embaló for the inaugural WAES, scheduled to take place in Abuja from June 20 to 21, 2025.

She described the Summit as a legacy initiative of President Tinubu aimed at transforming regional economic integration across West Africa.

In his response, President Embaló expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the invitation and commended the initiative as a significant step toward regional development. He pledged to attend the Summit with a high-level delegation from Guinea-Bissau.

The Envoy and her delegation are expected to continue the diplomatic mission in Accra, Ghana.
