Troops ambush Boko Haram, eliminate two terrorists; notorious insurgent surrenders

Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) personnel have effectively executed an ambush operation targeting suspected Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) at a crossing point near Kuka in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

In an official statement by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, it was revealed that the troops meticulously positioned themselves to intercept the advancing terrorists. A fierce confrontation ensued, resulting in the elimination of two BHT members, while the remaining insurgents scattered in disarray. The valiant soldiers seized 63 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, a single Improvised Explosive Device (IED) shell, five Pento injections, and a total of Nineteen Thousand, Four Hundred and Sixty Naira in currency.

Brigadier General Nwachukwu further conveyed that due to the intensified offensive against BHT strongholds, a notorious terrorist voluntarily surrendered to the 222 Battalion stationed in Geizuwa, Konduga LGA. Upon his surrender, the suspect was found to be in possession of an AK47 rifle, a magazine, and 26 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Presently, the individual is undergoing a comprehensive evaluation to determine the appropriate course of action.

Commending the troops for their unwavering vigilance and determination, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, applauded their remarkable performance. He urged them to uphold this momentum and ensure the complete eradication of any remaining terrorists and criminals within their assigned areas of responsibility
