In a decisive operation, the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) successfully apprehended the mastermind behind a deadly terrorist attack on Mararaban Azagawa Village in Taraba State. This swift action followed the tragic incident on June 16, 2024, which claimed five lives and left many injured.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops from 6 Brigade Sub-Sector 3A OPWS, based at the Forward Operating Base in Bali Local Government Area, launched a targeted operation to capture the perpetrators. The operation led to the arrest of Hassan Ibrahim, also known as Godu, a 39-year-old identified as the ringleader. During his capture, authorities recovered a Dane Gun, cartridges, and a motorcycle belonging to one of the victims.
Hassan Ibrahim has confessed to his involvement in the attack and is currently providing valuable information to assist in apprehending his collaborators. He remains in custody and is cooperating with authorities.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade Sector 3 OPWS, commended the public for their crucial support and information, which significantly contributed to the operation’s success. He urged continued public cooperation to help eliminate criminal activities in Taraba State.
