Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have apprehended four suspected terrorists and recovered a cache of weapons during a security operation in Taraba State.
Confirming the report, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 6 Brigade Nigerian Army Captain Olubodunde Oni said the operation, conducted on May 7, 2025, in the Tau area of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, followed a distress call about the movement of armed men into the community. Responding swiftly, troops tactically deployed to the location, leading to the arrest of the four suspects, three of whom were found in possession of firearms.
Recovered items include two pump-action rifles, one locally fabricated gun, three cutlasses, 42 cartridges, four mobile phones, and a national identity card. Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly invited by one Alhaji Ardo Sani, whose involvement remains under investigation.
Commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their prompt response and professionalism. He reaffirmed the brigade’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Taraba State.
The Army urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.
