Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested a suspected gun-runner and recovered arms and ammunition during a raid in Taraba State, as part of ongoing Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA.
Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad confirmed the operation in a statement issued.
He said the operation, conducted on Tuesday, November 12, 2025, followed credible intelligence that led troops to Shagada Village in Namnai Ward, Gassol Local Government Area. The suspect, identified as Abdulmudallabi Audu, aged 25, was apprehended during the raid.
Items recovered from him include one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 53 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. The suspect and the recovered exhibits are currently in custody at the 6 Brigade Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and swift response to intelligence reports. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining intensified operations across Taraba State to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and ensure the safety of citizens.
General Uwa also appealed to residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to aid ongoing efforts in dismantling criminal networks and restoring lasting peace across the region.
