In a major stride towards enhancing security in Taraba State, troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade have arrested seven suspected terrorists and recovered a significant cache of weapons in a series of operations across the state.
In a statement, Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Captain Olubodunde Oni troops deployed in Kambari, acting on credible intelligence regarding a bandit attack on a Fulani settlement in Katlong Village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State on August 7, 2024 swiftly engaged the assailants.
Oni said the bandits fled under heavy fire, leading to the capture of a suspect, Yusuf Musa. The troops also recovered an AK-47 rifle, 20 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and 118 cows, which were returned to their rightful owners.

Earlier, on August 6, 2024, troops apprehended four suspects—Yusuf Hassan, Mohammed Mamman, Haruna Illa, and Hammadu Shaibu—at Mashingi Village market in Karim Lamido LGA. Acting on intelligence, the soldiers intercepted the suspects as they attempted to purchase food supplies. Items recovered included a motorcycle, four mobile phones, and ₦57,000.
In another operation on August 9, 2024, troops, acting on a tip-off, arrested two suspects, Umar Zubair and Isah Abdulahi, in Magami, Jalingo LGA. The suspects were found with 436 machetes, believed to be intended for criminal activities. Additional items recovered included four filling machines, a mobile phone, and other fabrication tools.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their swift and effective actions, reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to peace and security in Taraba State. He urged citizens to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities, emphasizing that the Army will continue to collaborate with other security agencies and community leaders to eliminate criminal activities in the region.
The arrested suspects have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution. The Nigerian Army expressed gratitude to the people of Taraba State for their support and cooperation, which contributed to the success of these operations.
