Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested two suspects and recovered a cache of illegal weapons in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.
In a statement, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations 6 Brigade Nigerian Army Capt. Olubodunde Oni said the operation, conducted in Gayama village following credible intelligence, targeted criminal hideouts linked to arms possession. During the raid, two suspects—Haruna Samari and Dantala Mamman—were apprehended with various illegal arms and equipment.
Recovered items include one submachine gun, a magazine with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, one empty 7.62mm special ammunition case, two fabricated rifles, three single-barrel guns, three Dane guns, five live cartridges, four empty cartridge cases, a Beofeng radio, and one helmet.
The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their swift action and reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring peace and security in the state. He also called on the public to support ongoing operations by providing timely and credible information.
