Troops foil terrorist attacks in Borno, neutralize several insurgents

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled multiple terrorist attacks in Borno State, neutralizing several insurgents and capturing key combat equipment.

In a statement released today, 7 May 2025, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI, confirmed that troops stationed at Izge in Gwoza Local Government Area thwarted an early-morning assault on their location. During the hours-long firefight, the troops demonstrated exceptional resolve, forcing the attackers to retreat in disarray.

Pursuing the fleeing insurgents, the soldiers neutralized over seven more fighters and recovered critical equipment, including one motorcycle, 10 bicycles, and a PKT automatic machine gun with ammunition belts. A separate attempted attack at Mallamfatori was also foiled, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists.

The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their bravery and urged them to sustain their efforts to ensure a secure and terrorist-free environment in the region. The successful operations underscore the military’s commitment to eliminating terrorist threats across Borno State.
