Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have averted a potential tragedy after uncovering and neutralising improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by terrorists along the Magami–Hannutara–Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation followed credible intelligence about the explosives allegedly planted to cause destruction and endanger commuters using the route.
Acting on the information, the troops secured the affected area and conducted a thorough search, during which they identified two locations where explosive devices had been planted.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was subsequently deployed to the scene. The team successfully destroyed one of the devices and safely recovered and rendered the other harmless.
The military operation prevented a potentially devastating incident along the road, which is used by residents and other commuters travelling within the area.
Following the discovery, the troops intensified patrols and surveillance along the route to protect residents, enhance security and prevent further threats.
The military urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious objects, movements or activities to the nearest security agency.
The operation underscores the importance of timely intelligence and cooperation between security forces and local communities in efforts to counter terrorism and protect civilian lives in Zamfara State.
